Another blog post about a red carpet event, can you see a theme in my regular hobbies yet…? With the MTV EMAs being held in London this year, I had to find a way to go. The good tickets had sold out and I had no luck with the free audience tickets. But luckily I had an amazing friend who invited me which included access to the red carpet too! The MTV EMAs has been an event that I’ve wanted to go to for a few years and I’m so happy to have been able to go this year. Of course one of the main reasons was the performers. Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Kesha and Eminem were just a few on the line up this year.
Starting off with the red carpet, the EMAs were so exciting. If you know me, you know I love a red carpet as you have the chance to meet so many celebrities and guests. We queued up all morning to get into the red carpet area and we were SO close to not getting in. Luckily my group were the last few people and they put us in a really good spot. We were standing right behind the interview section so we got to see all the stars up close and even managed to appear in the background of some shots. We watched them take many selfies and they finally walked up the red carpet to the final section where I was. I ended up meeting Camila Cabello, Zara Larsson, and Shawn Mendes to name a few. Shawn chatted with us for a few minutes while he was waiting for his interview right in front of us which was so lovely. I told him his suit looked GREAT (see pictures below) and he said he was nervous about wearing it – not sure how that was possible because it was such a pretty suit, good choice.
Then of course the show started. I was standing right by the stage in the middle and we had to walk backstage to get to our section which was so surreal. We saw Rita Ora rushing backstage after an outfit change. A huge dream of mine is to go on tour around the world with an artist so being backstage at venues fascinates me and makes me think it could actually be a reality in the future. Everyone’s performance was incredible and it was a really fun night. As with all award shows, they are pretty long but this one went by at a good pace, compared to the Teen Awards 2017 which seemed to go on forever…
By the end of the show, I left my standing zone to meet a friend at the bar and I had just missed Brad Simpson from The Vamps as I’d got to the section where my friend was waiting. As the show was almost over, I joined my friend Bella in her section which was right in front of the stage. We saw Rita Ora up close bringing the awards to an end and then we all left the venue. People were waiting for the artists and celebrities to leave but of course, the UK’s weather doesn’t provide great waiting conditions in November! We waited as long as we could and then we left. People did end up meeting a few celebrities though and props to them for waiting in the freezing cold.
I’d love to be able to go again to the MTV EMA’s and hopefully they’ll be hosted back in London soon! Enjoy some of my pictures from the show and red carpet…
